Theta Sigma Delta tries to reach and make a difference in not only the members of the sisterhood, but the community we attend college in, our hometown's, and the children we meet along the way.
Pumpkin Fest. The Sisters volunteered their time during Pumpkin Fest at the Greek Council Booth. Sisters, along side family and friends, created free activities for the children to play (such as pumpkin putt putt, candy corn ring toss, spooky bowling, and witchy cauldron toss) and supplied prizes for them as well.

We support local charities! We volunteered at the SPCA, at the Empty Bowls and Baskets fundraiser, at a Local Benefit for epilepsy affecting a family member of our of our sisters (we also donated a basket to the raffle), at the Bradford Manor, at the Bradford Pumpkinville Kid Zone (we also created activities and bought prizes for the children), at the Freshmen Move-in, as Volunteer Coaches, at the Marilla Trail Race, for the Elf Tag, and at the WYMCA. Below are some of our favorite volunteering opportunities.
There is a special place for the McKean County SPCA in the hearts of all the Thetas. On a weekly basis, we visit the shelter to help in any we can. We help as animal handlers as well as donate vital supplies such as water bowls, food, blankets, and of course toys!

Empty Bowls and Baskets.
|
Pitt-Bradford recently hosted its 12th annual Empty Bowls and Baskets Dinner to raise awareness of the fight against hunger and to raise money for the Friendship Table. This yearly event is something the Thetas really enjoy participating in. This community event brings everyone together for a great reason. Over the past 12 years, this popular event has raised more than $20,000 for the Friendship Table.
The Empty Bowls Dinner began in 1990 when a Michigan high school art teacher and his students sponsored the first dinner served in handmade bowls to benefit the cause. By the following year, the originators had developed the concept into Empty Bowls, a project to provide support for food banks, soup kitchens and other organizations that fight hunger. Since then, Empty Bowls events have been held throughout the world, and millions of dollars have been raised to combat hunger. For more information on the originators of the event, go to www.emptybowls.net.

Stuff the Truck. As a part of the 2018-2019 Greek Week festivities, the Thetas, along with the other sororities and fraternities at Pitt Brad participated in "Stuff the Truck." We specifically focused this drive on Child Abuse Protection, and collected items such as food, clothing, and toys to donate to local children in our county.
